Gateway Motorhome Hire has qualified as a Qualmark™ Endorsed Visitor Transport in the superior category. To achieve this, Gateway Motorhome Hire has had to meet the following criteria:

• Operators shall hold a current Operators license issued by the LTSA and to conform to the Transport Services Licensing Act 1993
• All advertising and promotional material shall accurately reflect the age, mileage and specification levels of motorhomes typifying each vehicle category making up the fleet
• At least 80% of the fleet must be less than 36 Months old and under 150,000km
• Vehicles shall be maintained and managed to ensure (1) Minimum safety requirements for a Certificate of fitness at all times and (2) serviceable and trouble-free operation of all equipment, appointments and accessories forming part of the specification of the type of vehicle specified as part of the Rental Agreement.
  This includes:
  • Not hiring vehicles with known defects or in a condition where a defect is likely to occur during the term of the hire.
  • Cleaning and fully servicing vehicles in preparation for normal use in the type of hire to be undertaken and in accordance with pre-defined standards and checklists.
  • Ensuring the client acknowledges any pre-existing body damage at the time of hire and that this is noted on the agreement
  • Ensuring vehicle swaps due to vehicle unavailability are discussed and approved by the client.
  • Ensuring the obligations of the hirer in regard to the care and maintenance of the vehicle are clearly and unambiguously explained before the commencement of the hire.
  • Undertake vehicle familiarisation with all clients prior to each hire
  • Provide each client with safe driving tips and information of the road rules and driving conditions within New Zealand
• Motorhome and Campervan operators shall provide a thorough vehicle briefing at the time of hire with a focus on safe operation of the vehicle - Both in safe driving and safe use of equipment on board (toilets, showers, gas cooking, waste disposal etc.). Such briefings are to be complemented by provision of an operations manual specific to the vehicle.
